Chris Carter is a senior editor, journalist, photographer, and videographer with a career shaped by lived experience, rigorous storytelling, and a deep respect for place. He grew up in rural Kenya, East Africa, a world of contrasts and cultural diversity, but now hails from beautiful Chattanooga, Tennessee. His overseas upbringing gave him an early global perspective and fundamentally shaped how he approaches travel and outdoor media: with curiosity, responsibility, and an insistence on quality.
Professionally, he's been immersed in the outdoor industry for nearly a decade, spending the past five years supporting and leading editorial coverage at top outdoor and travel publications, including Switchback Travel and GearJunkie. His writing spans adventure guides, trip reports, long-form features, gear reviews, and outdoor journalism, often rooted in firsthand testing and on-the-ground reporting.
He is also an adventure photographer and videographer, and has been creating media for outdoor brands and on personal adventures since 2018.
Chris is constantly on the move, pursuing stories around the world that sit at the intersection of travel, culture, and the outdoors. He brings a global lens, strong editorial judgment, deep experience in affiliate marketing, and a genuine respect for both readers and the places we explore.
